Tarique Rahman was sworn in as Bangladesh’s Prime Minister on Tuesday, becoming the country’s first male premier in 35 years. Rahman, a senior leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), took the oath of office at the South Plaza, administered by President Mohammed Shahabuddin

BNP leader Tarique Rahman was on Tuesday sworn in as Bangladesh’s new prime minister. He is the first male PM in 35 years.
This also marks a new beginning for the country after a nearly 18-month period of political uncertainty and lawlessness under the rule of the interim government led by Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus.
