The US State department has warned that terror groups may be planning attacks against India and has issued an advisory asking its nationals to be alert while visiting the country

The US State department has warned that terror groups may be planning attacks against India and has issued an advisory asking its nationals to be alert while visiting the country.

"The Department of State alerts US citizens to ongoing security concerns in India. The US government continues to receive information that terrorist groups may be planning attacks in India," the state department said.u00a0

The advisory goes on to add that terrorists and their sympathisers have demonstrated their willingness and capability to attack places where US citizens or Westerners are known to congregate or visit.

The state department reminded US citizens that the November 26-29, 2008 Mumbai attacks were a vivid reminder that public places areu00a0 targeted by terror groups and asked them to always practise good security and maintain a low profile.u00a0
