The ruling Pakistan People's Party on Thursday said it will decide on rejoining the PML-N-led government in Punjab soon, two days after the Supreme Court restored the Shahbaz Sharif-led administration in the politically-crucial province.
The PML-N-led government in Punjab was restored on Tuesday after the Supreme Court suspended an order barring PML-N president and provincial Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif from electoral politics.
Gilani said Shahbaz had asked the PPP to return to the government in Punjab during a meeting yesterday.
The PPP's leadership will meet after Zardari returns to the country and decide on the issue, he said.
"Whatever the decision of the PPP, we want both parties to respect each other's mandate," Gilani told a news conference in which Shahbaz was also present.
The premier noted that he had recently met PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif with a message of reconciliation and an olive branch.
