All 400 undergraduates at Newnham female college were warned after 30 people grumbled to bosses in a month.

An email from student union president Lizzy Cole (19) said, "Newnham corridors funnel sound and walls are very thin. Please remember to be discreet in your activities, especially during late/early hours of the day."

And students are mortified. A 20-year-old, too red-faced to be named, said, "It's so embarrassing to think people have been listening. I'm blushing. It's easy to forget the walls are so thin when you get carried away."

Another girl admitted, "When I read the email I cringedu00a0-- I thought it must refer to me."

Male visitors are allowed to stay for up to two nights at the college, but after that must sign up for a guest room. A visiting male student said, "That place is a nightmare to escape from when drunk. And as for the walls, I thought I was going to break them at one point."

Lizzy said her email also referred to loud music. She added, "We're not all sluts."
