The bhoomipujan of the BKC pod taxi project happened on Tuesday. The megapolis has moved towards a futuristic transit system that promises faster, more personalised travel within buzzing, business-centric BKC. It is initially to run along Kurla and Bandra East, with eight stations strategically located at Bandra East, Kalanagar, along MMRDA Old Building, Excise Department, Bharat Diamond Bourse Gate 11, MMRDA Pay & Park, LBS Marg and Kurla.

While access to the BKC stretch from the Bandra East Railway station promises to get easier, this is still two years in the pipeline. This gets especially pronounced during peak hours, when getting out of the precinct is very difficult, with commuters desperate to get home. A number of entertainment spaces also see substantial crowds during peak hours, and rickshaws and at times, cabs too, going not by meter but per passenger.
