Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also planted a `sindoor` sapling at his residence on World Environment Day, on June 5th. The act was widely seen as a symbolic tribute to the recent Operation Sindoor, a response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that calimed 26 lives

During a public gathering Chief Minister Rekha Gupta adderssing the crowd she shared that she was inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s gesture of planting a `sindoor` sapling and felt a strong desire to do the same. Coincidentally, during a public hearing in the morning, she was gifted a `sindoor` sapling by a few individuals. She took this as a sign and planted the sapling to mark the beginning of the `Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Campaign 2.0`

Meanwhile CM Rekha Gupta expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Modi and the armed forces for their efforts in Operation Sindoor and giving a strong message against terrorism 

Rekha Gupta along with Cabinet Minister Ashish Sood during a public meeting organised to mark the state BJP government`s 100 days in office, stated that the previous AAP government had not implemented the `Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam` campaign in Delhi. Emphasising the importance of environmental protection, she said the current government is now launching the initiative to encourage tree plantation and raise awareness about ecological conservation

The `Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam` campaign encourages individuals to plant trees in the name of their mothers—a symbolic act that honours the nurturing role of mothers while also promoting the urgent cause of environmental conservation

In the meanwhile CM Rekha Gupta has stated that the government has set a target of planting over 70 lakh trees this season. She also shared that the government has appealed to every individual and social organisation to plant at least one tree in the name of "Mother Nature and Earth" in an effort to make Delhi greener and more environmentally sustainable
