During a special discussion in the Rajya Sabha on Operation Sindoor, Jaishankar stated that there were no phone calls between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump between April 22 and June 16

The Opposition has been criticizing the government due to claims made by Donald Trump about his mediation, through the threat of trade, in bringing about a halt to hostilities between India and Pakistan

He stated that India would not tolerate any cross-border terrorism and had already responded to Pakistan by conducting "Operation Sindoor." He affirmed that India would continue to retaliate whenever the neighboring country attacks again. Moreover, reffering to the Pahalgam terror attack, he emphasized that it was completely unacceptable, signifying that Pakistan had crossed a "redline" and would be held accountable, with justice needing to be served

Furthermore, Jaishankar asserted that the Modi government has corrected past errors in Nehru`s policies by suspending the Indus Water Treaty. He stated that the treaty, signed by then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, was not an attempt to secure peace, but rather an act of appeasement
