The Indian Army has launched a Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) mission in response to a flooded coal mine incident in Dima Hasao, Assam. The incident occurred in the remote "3 Kilo" area of Dima Hasao, located near the Assam-Meghalaya border, leaving approximately 15 to 20 miners trapped inside. (Pic/ PTI)

This response follows an earlier mobilisation of a relief task force to rescue miners trapped at the Umrangshu coal mine in Dima Hasao. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma personally sought the Indian Army’s help in the ongoing rescue operations.
