While major rivers like the Ganga, Yamuna, and Betwa are flowing above the danger mark at several places, the situation does seem a lot more dangerous.

In Varanasi, the water level of the Ganga River crossed the danger mark here on Monday morning, submerging ghats and forcing the authorities to shift cremation and other religious rituals to rooftops and raised platforms.

In view of the prevailing inclement weather and consistent rainfall in several districts, all government and private schools from Classes 1 to 12 will remain closed on Monday in Lucknow.
