The Swachh Survekshan awards ceremony was held in Delhi on Thursday
Pimpri-Chinchwad has secured 7th place nationally and ranked 1st in Maharashtra in the Swachh Survekshan competition conducted under the Central Government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Pune city, meanwhile, bagged 8th rank in the country.
The city has once again been certified as a 7-star Garbage Free City and received Water Plus certification. Last year, the city ranked 10th nationally and 3rd in the state. This is the first time Pimpri-Chinchwad has achieved the top rank in Maharashtra.
At the awards ceremony held on Thursday in Delhi, Union Minister of Urban Development Manohar Lal Khattar and Minister of State Tokhan Sahu presented the award to Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh, Chief Engineer Sanjay Kulkarni, and Deputy Commissioner of the Health Department Sachin Pawar.
