US cuts tariffs on Indian goods to 18 percent after Modi–Trump trade deal

The US and India have agreed to a trade deal under which Washington will reduce reciprocal tariffs on Indian goods from 25pc to 18pc, President Donald Trump announced after a phone call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi welcomed the move, saying it would benefit “Made in India” products and strengthen bilateral cooperation

India and the US agreed to a trade deal under which Washington will bring down reciprocal tariff on Indian goods to 18 per cent from current 25 per cent, US President Donald Trump said on Monday after a phone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The prime minister said he was delighted that "Made in India products will now have a reduced tariff of 18 per cent".
