PM Modi to visit Bihar’s Purnea, launch projects worth Rs 36,000 crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Purnea district in pollbound Bihar on Monday where he is scheduled to address a rally and launch development projects worth Rs 36000 crore reported news agency PTIDuring the visit Modi will inaugurate the newly developed airport terminal in Purnea fulfilling the regionrsquos longstanding demand for air connectivity He will also launch the National Makhana Board an announcement made in the Union Budget earlier this yearBihar produces nearly 90 per cent of the countryrsquos makhana Indian foxnut which Modi has described in several speeches as a ldquosuper foodrdquoIn a post on X the Prime Minister said ldquoMakhana and Bihar have a very strong link From Purnea tomorrow the National Makhana Board will be launched This will benefit several farmers associated with the sectorrdquoThe BJPled NDA aiming to retain power in the state has highlighted Modirsquos development pushldquoIn his 11 years of tenure Modi has gifted Bihar development projects worth about Rs 150 lakh crore Tomorrow there will be another bonanza The state is enjoying the fruits of having a doubleengine governmentrdquo said Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary who recently visited Purnea to review preparations reported PTIState Assembly elections are expected to be announced in the coming weeks Security has been tightened in Purnea ahead of Modirsquos visit with vehicular movement on national and state highways suspended for 24 hours from midnight on SundayMeanwhile Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav carried out a ldquosurprise inspectionrdquo of the Government Medical College and Hospital GMCH in Purnea Sharing an eightminute video on X Yadav said ldquoI visited the premises on a day when Union Health Minister JP Nadda was in Bihar The situation in the 11th year of the Modi government is selfexplanatoryrdquoIn the video Yadav is seen interacting with patients and hospital staff He claimed that the new building which cost hundreds of crores lacks basic facilities such as an ICU trauma centre or a fully qualified cardiologistldquoMany patients including children are forced to lie in the open leaving them vulnerable to infections like dengue as the construction work is still onrdquo he saidYadav also alleged that ldquoeven the socalled functional wards lack basic facilities like separate toilets for men and women Patients are making do with bedsheets which are dirty or are bringing them from homerdquoTaking aim at both the Centre and the state government the RJD leader said ldquoI would urge the PM that after having his fill of the tirade against jungle raj RJD rule he should visit the GMCH The stark failures of the doubleengine government will stare him in the face He must also bring along Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who loves to brag that since he took over in 2005 all has been goodrdquoWith PTI inputs
