Accidental firing ruled out; police confirm murder-suicide in Jadeja-Gohil case

A day after MP’s nephew claimed his gun misfired, forensic reports have ruled out an ‘accidental firing’; investigators said the couple had an argument before the incident

Police on Friday reclassified the deaths of Rajeshwariba Jadeja and her husband Yashrajsinh Gohil as a case of murder followed by suicide, a day after the incident at their NRI Tower residence was initially reported as an accidental firearm discharge.

Gohil, a Class-1 officer with the Gujarat Maritime Board and nephew of Congress MP Shaktisinh Gohil, had claimed his licensed revolver went off accidentally while being handled. Based on this statement, the police had initially registered a case of accidental death.
