West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written to the Election Commission of India, alleging a serious conspiracy to manipulate electoral rolls in the state ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, reported news agency ANI.
Claims of ‘Fraudulent Voter Inclusion’
In her communication to the Chief Election Commissioner, Banerjee alleged that agents linked to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were attempting to add non-residents to the voter list through fraudulent means. She claimed that large numbers of Form 6 applications—used for voter registration—were being submitted in bulk at the office of the Chief Electoral Officer in West Bengal, reported ANI.
