Maharashtra: Over 5000 farmer suicides reported in Marathwada region in 5 years

More than 5000 farmers have died by suicide in Maharashtra’s Marathwada region over the past five years, with 1,129 cases recorded in 2025 alone, the highest so far. Beed district reported the maximum deaths, with unseasonal rainfall and floods cited as key factors

More than 5,000 farmers died by suicide in central Maharashtra`s Marathwada region in the past five years, with the highest number recorded in 2025, news agency PTI reported, citing an official report on Wednesday.
