SIT formed to probe fake birth certificate racket in Maharashtra

Maharashtra has formed an SIT led by senior officer Yashasvi Yadav to probe a fake birth certificate racket exploiting the Civil Registration System (CRS) portal in Yavatmal and Jalgaon districts. Forged documents sold via digital means pose risks to national security, IDs, and government schemes

A special investigation team (SIT) has been constituted to probe a serious case involving the creation and circulation of fake birth certificates, registered at Yavatmal City Police Station in Maharashtra.

The case has been filed under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act.
