The Congress party on Monday accused the Union government of delaying financial assistance to farmers affected by unseasonal rains in Maharashtra, alleging that the Centre is hiding behind procedural formalities instead of offering urgent help, news agency PTI reported.

Maharashtra Congress President Harshwardhan Sapkal criticised the BJP-led Mahayuti government, stating it has failed to secure a relief package for distressed farmers.
