Jammu and Kashmir: NDRF, Army intensify rescue after cloudburst kills 46

After a devastating cloudburst in Chisoti, Kishtwar, JK, the NDRF, Army, and volunteers are carrying out massive rescue operations. At least 46 people have died, 167 rescued, and 38 remain in serious condition. Bad weather hindered chopper use, forcing teams to arrive by road as efforts intensify to save lives.

After a very critical situation in Jammu and Kashmir amid the heavy rainfall, a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Friday reached Chisoti village in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district. Chistoli experienced a cloudburst a few days back, which made the situation extremely bad; officials said that at least 46 people have been killed in the disaster, and 167 were rescued.

As reported by news agency PTI, out of those who were rescued on Thursday, 38 are in serious condition. However, the death toll went up steadily as the day progressed, and there are fears it could rise further, looking at the condition of the injured, as per officials. 

Addressing more about the disastrous calamity that hit Jammu and Kashmir, the Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar, Pankaj Sharma, told the media that "The NDRF team is joining the operation currently underway in the village. They reached Gulabgarh late in the night," as cited by news agency PTI.
