Australian Army chief visits Pune, strengthens defence ties with India

Australian Army chief Lieutenant General Simon Stuart is currently on an official visit to India from August 11 to August 14, 2025, aimed at boosting bilateral defence cooperation, an official statement said.

As part of his itinerary, Lt Gen Stuart visited the Southern Command Headquarters in Pune, where he met Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief.

"The two senior officers held discussions on joint training exercises, military exchange programmes, and shared perspectives on future warfare. The meeting reaffirmed both armies’ commitment to strengthening strategic and operational ties," the statement said.
