Counterfeiter takes R1,500 from man promising original caste certificate
Au00a0woman agent was arrested by the Yerawada police for issuing fake caste certificate to a person looking for a government job. Naseen Babajaan Patel (35) blew the whistle after the Collector's Office rejected his caste certificate calling it a fake.
Patel then filed a complaint at the Yerawada police station. The police then arrested the agent, who issued the bogus certificate.
Patel said he had visited the Sangamwadi Ward Office to obtain a caste certificate. There he met Meena Chandrakant Shinde (30), who assured him he would get the certificate after payment of Rs 1,500 and submission of someu00a0 documents.
Patel paid an advance of Rs 500 and submitted the documents such as educational certificates, electricity bill and ration card on August 21. Seven days later, after the documents and the fees were submitted, Shinde called Patel and told him to meet her at a place, where she gave him the caste certificate.
Patel suspected the originality of the certificate, as without filing any form or submitting an affidavit he had got it.u00a0 When he showed it in the Collector's Office he came to know that he had been cheated. Shocked by this, he called up Shinde, who then agreed to return his money.
PI Dipak Sawant of the Yerawada police station said, "The woman had agreed to give him an original certificate. She also agreed to pay the money she had taken from him. However, by then, Patel had filed a complaint with the police, who immediately arrested the woman."
