Vote for the worst Bollywood acts with the first Golden Kela Awards
Was Mallika Sherawat's act in Ugly aur Pagli worse than Himesh Reshammiya's antics in Karzzzz? Or was ice maiden Aishwarya Rai colder than her co-actor Hrithik Roshan in the epic Jodha Akbar? If you have been waiting to get back at Bollywood tripe, this is your time for revenge. Participate in an online poll to choose the worst movie and performers of 2008. And on March 7, see them being crowned with the first Golden Kela Awards.
The Kelas, India's answer to Hollywood's Golden Raspberry Awards, will be announced at Delhi's India Habitat Centre the same day the Filmfare Awards will be declared in Mumbai.
"India produces more bad movies than the West. So this award seemed the right move to honour (or rather dishonour) the worst in the business.
However, this is a humourous endeavour and we do not want to offend anyone," said Jatin Varma, editor of the Random magazine, the brand behind the Kela Awards.
The nominations for this year's awards have been selected by the magazine's board and the winners will be decided by public voting.
"So far we have received about 8,000 online votes. We hope to get around 15,000 before the event," said Varma.
This favourable early response has made the organisers decide to let the public choose the nominations as well from next year.
