The Guide suggests you head tou00a0FC Road for ethnic artefacts from Orissa

It takes just a single visit to Orissa to make you fall in love with its rich cultural heritage, dance forms such as Odissi and Chau as well as traditional crafts. Utkalika on FC Road is an endeavour by the State Emporium to offer authentic artefacts from Orissa in the city.

The du00e9cor is minimal and the entrance is dotted with stone sculptures. While the handloom collection is located on the ground floor, the mezzanine stores the Dokra and filigree art works.

RANGE: The emporium offers a range of sarees, dress materials, sculptures, tribal jewellery, bags and potlis. You can shop for traditional handloom sarees such as Ikat and Tussar, which boast of intricate works and complicated motifs. They have beautiful wall hangings with appliquu00e9 work made by sewing patches of cloth onto a base cloth to form motifs such as peacocks, Lord Jagannath and flowers. They use the same technique on umbrellas, lamps and bags. They also have Tussar silk paintings and Dokra artefacts made using brass and bell metal, which includes lamps, bells and small figurines of Lord Ganesh. Traditional Odissi dancers used to sport earrings and bracelets made of silver filigree, which is similar to Dokra art but is only used to make ornamental pieces. You will find earrings, bracelets and anklets made from silver filigree. They have beautiful stone sculptures in various sizes depicting deities such as Radha Krishna using pink stone, green stone and granite.

Don't miss thier sandstone idols which depict the wheels of the Konark sun temple and check out the wooden elephants.

WE LIKED: Check out their patchwork bags and potlis, which can be worn for a party or a night out. They have quaint bookmarks with beautiful tribal work on it. On offer are traditional Odissi dance costumes replete with jewellery and flowers.
