Artist Anjlie Vellody captures monkeys who, she believes, torment the human psyche, in her latest exhibition. She tells us why waking up to the existence of these primates is not just cathartic, but downright constructive

What does Jim Morrison have in common with this lady?

Ten large oil and acrylic on canvas works comprise the present series, in which Anjlie has depicted how monkeys, or issues that plague us (including insecurity), manifest like monkeys in our mind, never allowing a moment's peace as they jump from one thought to another. Smaller art-works including sketches and watercolours will also be on display. Anjlie's unique technique has lent a sort of lithographic effect to the paintings. Part of the proceeds from the sale will go towards an NGO that Anjlie supports by teaching art to slum children.

At: The Viewing Room Gallery, Elysium Mansion, above Bata showroom, opposite Cusrow Baug, Colaba Causeway.
Till: September 30 from 11 am to 7 pm.
Call: 22830027.
