Au00a0farmer's advocacy group in Vidarbha, Maharashtra has objected to the content of just-released Hindi film Peepli Live, saying it is an incorrect representation of the misery of family members of farmers who have committed suicide.
According to Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti (VJAS) president Kishor Tiwari, the farmers in any region of India are forced to commit suicide thanks to inadequate support from the government, not because the family can live off compensation, as is depicted. He has written to Chief Minister Ashok Chavan stating the same. The VJAS wants the film banned.
