We all know that most Bollywood films draw inspiration from various sources, but here's an instance of reel inspiring real. Delhi police has arrested two persons for allegedly demanding extortion money from a businessman in Delhi. Furkan Ali (26), a UP police home guard, and his accomplice Shadab Ahmad Khan (26), were nabbed for threatening and trying to fleece Sanjeev Rathore, a businessman from Krishna Nagar in east Delhi. The duo had planned their strategy after watching films like Vaastav and Satya.

"A complaint was received at the Krishna Nagar police station from Sanjeev Rathore. The victim said that some Bhai from Mumbai was calling him demanding Rs 25 lakh. Special staff of east Delhi police immediately deployed a team for this case," said a police officer

During investigations the cops found that the extortionist had called the victim from Mumbai between the 1st and 4th of July and thereafter calls started coming in from different parts of Delhi.

"First the culprit called from different PCOs in Mumbai, then he called from a mobile number and after July 4 he started calling from Delhi. We traced down the number of a PCO near Mumbai Central Railway Station and we saw that the next call was made from a mobile number in Delhi. We found that the number belonged to Furkan Ali, and in further investigations we discovered that Furkan is a home guard with UP police and also worked as a bouncer with the victim," a police officer explained.

Meanwhile the extortionist increased the demand from 20 to 25 lakh rupees. The officers then tracked down the number of the PCO in Delhi from where the extortionist had made the call to the victim.

"We caught the suspect Shadab and on his tip-off we nabbed Furkan. During interrogation Furkan revealed that he is a home guard and also worked as a bouncer for hire in east Delhi. For some time he had worked as a bouncer with the victim and had observed the heavy money transactions involved. Then he made a plan with his friend Shadab to extort money from Sanjeev.

Shadab had lived in Mumbai in 2005 and knows the typical tapori language (local dialect). Besides they had also seen movies like Vaastav and Satya, based on Mumbai's underworld, and decided to use that language to threaten the businessman. Then Shadab went to Mumbai and started calling the victim while Furkan stayed near the businessman's house to keep a close watch on his movements and report it to Shadab," the officer added

The culprits revealed that they used the information to threaten Sanjeev. Shadab called up the victim and told him about his routine.

"He told the victim at what time he went to which place and said that his men were tracking him in Delhi. But it was Furkan who was sending all the information to Shadab," the officer said. Shadab has been sent to judicial custody while Furkan is in police remand.

DON'S GUNMAN

A sharpshooter of the Abu Salem criminal gang, who was on the run for the past few years, was arrested from Mehrauli area of south Delhi on July 1. Mohammad Akram Siddiqui was wanted in several criminal activities including attempt to murder and extortion in Mumbai.
"He was on the run after being declared a proclaimed offender by a Mumbai court. He used to handle operations in India when Abu Salem was abroad," a police officer said.
During investigations, it was revealed that the accused was an active member of Salem's gangu00a0 and used to live with one Sanjay in Naini in Allahabad. "Sanjay used to get directions from Salem who used to extort money from builders, film fraternity and jewelers," the police officer said.
