A purohit at the Varadanjaneya Swami temple located in Malleshwaram 11th Main was allegedly attacked by a temple trustee for stammering while performing a pooja.

The temple trustee Pravardhana Rao lost his temper as the purohit, Harish Sharma (28), stumbled his way through the prayer ritual.

"Stammering is not a big issue but he just got very angry and attacked me. And this time, I didn't even give him the ashirwaad which just made him furious," he added.

The incident took place at 10 pm and left Sharma with multiple bruises all over his face. The others attending the pooja had to pull apart Sharma and Rao who had started fighting before the police could arrive.

However, the police registered the complaint only at 2.15 am.

Head Constable Thimmaiah from Malleshwaram police station, said, "A complaint has been filed here but we don't intend to register an FIR. We will help both parties make peace among themselves."u00a0
