Officials, engineers and technical staff of MSEDCL announce strike to oppose private franchisee system being contemplated by electric supply company; city will be hit hard as there will be no one to attend to complaints and carry out daily maintenance work
Officials said linemen and lower ring technicians, who are part of the strike, are the backbone of the company's field staff doing all kinds of work.
"In case of a short circuit on a supply line, it will remain unattended as the linemen are on strike. Consumers might have to go without power," said another official requesting anonymity.
Deputy Director (Vigilance & Secburity) Commander (retd) Shivaji Indalkar said, "The strike will affect the detection of power theft cases." Pune region Public Relations Officer (PRO) Chandrakant Gurav and Chief Engineer Siddharth Nagtilak remained unavailable for comment despite repeated attempts.
