There are musicians, and there is Michael Jackson. Delhi-based artist pays tribute to the ultimate entertainer who changed the world of music forever

He isn't called the Invincible for no reason. Michael Jackson's body might be History, but it's hard to put down his spirit that still moonwalks in millions of hearts. But the King of Pop seems to be coming back to life in Delhi, thanks to a Picasso-inspired artist.

Neema Lal's Michael Jackson ufffd The Legend, is a set of 15 abstract paintings dedicated to the musical legend, and springs from the vacuum the artist felt after his demise. "I first saw him on television when I was 10 years old, and since then I have been hooked. His untimely death was a big shock to me, so I have tried to immortalise the man in my humble way," says 31-year-old Neema.

MJ's inner spirit of creativity and commitment towards music is what Neema believes to be the soul of her work.
"I have tried focusing beyond MJ's figures and tried to depict his untiring spirit by using broken curved lines which take us deeper into his soul," she says. The artist claims this unique signature of hers, which she has christened 'the style of broken figure' was perfected after studying Spanish cubist Pablo Picasso staunchly for 15 years.u00a0 Her mediums range from charcoal, pastel oil, oil and acrylic colours to the more adventurous sand, coal, tar and textures of marble powder which lend a three dimensional effect to her works.

Neema believes her lifestyle too resembles that of the artiste a lot.

"I'm spiritual and meditate a lot. I begin my mornings with japas and mantras and only then I start work.

Michael too was a very spiritual man," she says. Neema is looking forward to the day when MJ's family will visit India to witness her work. "They haven't confirmed yet or told me who will be coming but when they do turn up I'm going to present some of the paintings to them," says the upbeat artist.

Now that's someone who truly believes in MJ's philosophy, Don't stop till you get enough and if you are an MJ fan, remember, You got to be there.
