The unseasonal downpour on Tuesday was a bad reminder of the condition of city roads, as one shower caused water logging due to existing potholes and caught commuters off guard.
Some of the roads that witnessed water logging include Camp, Station and University Road, while Mahatma Gandhi and ITI Road in Aundh were worst hit due to many potholes and trenches. It was impossible for vehicles to travel around SGS Mall, Agriculture College and Shivaji Road.
Arundhati Bansood, a media professional, said, "I didn't use my two-wheeler to travel around Camp and MG Road and preferred walking to my office at East Street."
Roads had improved after the Common Youth Games were held last year, but the condition seems to have deteriorated again.
The PMC allotted Rs 190 crore for the development of road before the games.
