Janata Dal-United Chief Sharad Yadav yesterday sought a temporary ban on social media in the wake of rumours of revenge attacks by angry Muslims, which triggered an exodus of north- easterners from Bangalore to their home states

Yadav also hit out at Union Home Secretary RK Singh for the inept handling of the situation. Yadav further said that it was not clear what constituted “bulk SMSes”, on which the government has now imposed a 15-day ban.u00a0
