At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the local unit, which had gained 33 paise to 47.47/48 a dollar yesterday, appreciated by 15 paise to 47.32 in early trade.
Forex dealers attributed the rise in the Indian currency to the greenback losing strength against other major currencies.
