Every second Indian smartphone user using gadget to flirt, propose to girlfriend

Life in a metro could be tough especially if your beloved works in a different organisation or you live in opposite directions. But help is at hand.
The SMS generation is sending short text messages over mobile phones not just to remain connected but also to flirt and propose to whom they love.
As many as 54 per cent of those having smartphones in India find it acceptable for marriage proposals to occur over their mobile phones, according to a study by Synovate-Microsoft.
The study, conducted in the Asian Pacific (Apac) region, provide interesting insights into how people in urban India are using their mobile phones.
"In taking relationships to the next level, Chinese (58%) and Indians (54%) are most likely to find it acceptable for marriage proposals to occur over their mobile phones."
The study also revealed that SMS and MMS have been used for sending or receiving adult content (13%), to end relationship with their partners (8%) and even to quit their job (5%).
What's more, 19 per cent of the respondents in India felt it was acceptable to fire someone over the mobile phone!
Another tantalising bit of information that the survey throws up is that Japanese women lead the pack in the Apac region to check SMS and call history in their husband's mobile phone, at 71 per cent.
Around 60 per cent of Indian women might consider taking similar action compared to 47 per cent males who would like to check their partner's phone.
However, more men than women in India are keen to use the global positioning system (GPS) in their handsets to track the whereabouts of their spouse (46% men as compared to 33% women).
Indians are extremely social when it comes to using a mobile phone.
Indians are most likely to use their phones at a wedding ceremony, while eating a meal, in the cinema, during a business meeting, at a place of worship and even inside a library.
Eighty-seven per cent of the respondents also believe that mobile phone should not be given to children.
