An overhead cable wire breaking between Dadar and Sion railway stations severely inconvenienced commuters on Mumbai central line during peak hour.
Only two days before Union Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge sets foot in Mumbai for the first time, the local lines on Central Railway experienced severe technical failure on Friday.

On Friday evening, the local suburban trains came to partial standstill after an overhead cable wire broke between Dadar and Sion railway stations. The incident occurred at around 7.50 pm on the slow line going towards CST, thus delaying train services.
The train services had to be diverted on to the fast lines, which resulted in bunching of trains one after the other. "The diversion was done between Vidyavihar and Byculla stations. Due to this 3 trains were held-up and services were running late by 5 to 10 minutes," said AK Singh spokesperson, CR.
With the incident happening during evening peak hours, the delay led to overcrowded railway stations and packed trains.
Meanwhile, Kharge will come to Kurla Lokmanya Tilak Terminus to flag off long distance trains, induct the new Bombardier make of local train into the fleet and launch the new trespass control measures proposed by the railways in Mumbai.
