The next Lucky Singh, master thief whose life has inspired a Bollywood film.
He could very well be the next Lucky Singh, the master thief whose life has inspired a Bollywood film. Using the age-old trick of doling out a little to rake in the big booty, a man and his accomplices managed to fool a bus full of people.
Boarding a bus plying along the Ring Road, the master conman declared he was selling surma, a traditional medicine and makeup for the eyes. Pulling out a packet from his bag he started speaking about the advantages of surma which would cost the passengers only Rs 50 per pack.
He declared that each packet contained a lucky number using which a buyer could win either cash or a gift. Lured by the offer, about four to five people immediately bought the surma packets. They opened their packets and announced the number written inside. The salesman then gave a cash prize worth Rs 50 to lucky ones.
By then many other commuters came forward to buy the surma. The salesman handed over the packets to the buyers.
But then came the twist in the tale.
As people started opening their surma packets, they realised they had been fooled. The packet contained nothing except a small bottle of black powder. They raised an alarm only to realise that the man and the first lot of "lucky buyers" had already disembarked.
