Railway police have arrested four persons from a mob of 50 that assaulted a ticket collector (TC) and vandalised the stationmasters' office at Khar railway station yesterday. The fracas was a result of an argument with the ticket collector over an expired railway pass by a commuter, said railway officials.
The police personnel stationed at the station were unable to deal with the situation, and additional police force was called to the spot. Following a lathicharge, the mob dispersed. After a 10-minute delay, train services resumed. Pawar was rushed to a hospital for medical attention, and was discharged after treatment.
Sanjeev Pimple, police officer at Bandra GRP said, “A case has been registered against persons under several sections of rioting, and further investigations are ongoing. Thankfully railway services were not affected.” Cops stated that the exact motive for the commotion is yet to be ascertained. u00a0
