A man shot dead his elder brother, the additional advocate general of Haryana, and sister-in-law over a property dispute, police here said on Tuesday.

Ankur Sura killed Sanjiv Sura, 36, and Sunita Sura, 32, late Sunday. Their mother Ginni Devi was the only eyewitness. She registered a complaint against her younger son, who was arrested early Monday.

"Ankur used his licensed pistol to kill the couple. The pistol has been recovered and sent it to forensic laboratory. We will produce Ankur in the local court today (Tuesday)," investigation officer Ram Roop said.

"Ankur lived on the ground floor of the house while Sanjiv stayed with his family on the first floor. Ankur called Sanjiv to discuss a property matter Sunday night and the moment Sanjiv entered the room, Ankur started firing. Sunita tried to intervene but she was also shot dead," he said.

Roop said Ankur ran away from the spot in his car after committing the crime. But police located his position with the help of mobile towers. "He has been arrested," the officer said.

The couple was rushed to the hospital by the neighbours but doctors declared them brought dead, Roop said.

Police said Ankur was under the influence of liquor when he committed this crime.

The brothers had strained relations since 2009.
