Lanes of Kashmir remain quiet on eve of Eid-ul Adha

The usual festivities that mark the eve of Eid-ul Adha are missing in Kashmir where markets yesterday wore a deserted look as normal life remain paralysed due to continued violence and shutdown since July

Lanes of Kashmir remain quiet on eve of Eid-ul Adha

While a fair number of private vehicles were plying on some roads, shops and business establishments remained closed during daytime due to the strike called by separatists. The massive footfall of customers, a usual sight on the festival eve, remained missing.


Modern Sweets, a famous confectionary-cum-bakery stuck a poster outside its store reading: ‘No bakery available on Eid’. However, sale of sacrificial animals is going on at many places in the city.
