Nimbalkar, a former Superintendent of Police, Belgaum, was recently transferred to the ATS. His suspension was announced today by the Department of Public Administration and Reforms.
On March 18, the Lok Ayukta had raided the residences of five officials, including Nimbalkar and allegedly unearthed assets disproportionate to their known sources of income to the extent of Rs 5.17 crore.
Lokayukta N Santosh Hegde had stated after the raid that Nimbalkar had Rs 25 lakh income since joining service in 1998 and his assets had then been valued at Rs 76 lakh, that he has two flats in his wife's name at Dadar, East Mumbai and has invested in several sectors, including in real estate.
Later, an enquiry was conducted against Nimbalkar and state Police Chief Ajay Kumar Singh submitted a report to the Chief Minister's office, based on which he was placed under suspension.
