A jawan died after he slipped into a gorge during patrolling near the LoC in Balakote sector of Poonch district, police said here on Monday.

A jawan died after he slipped into a gorge during patrolling near the LoC in Balakote sector of Poonch district, police said here on Monday.

Lance Naik Virender Singh of 39 Rashtriya Rifle (RR) slipped into the gorge when a party of troops was patrolling Balakote sector, about 180-km from Jammu.

The body of the jawan has been retrieved from the gorge and sent for post-mortem, they said.
