Woman invited fraudsters home after they convinced her to get a pooja performed if she wanted her business to prosper
A beautician was robbed of her gold yesterday by three godmen who convinced her to invite them home to perform a pooja for her wellbeing.
Priya (23), owner of Munn Pasand Beauty Parlour on Avenue Road, was chatting with her relatives at the salon on Sunday when the trio approached her.
Parlour blessed
In her complaint, Priya said, "Three men who posed as devotees of Sai Baba, entered her salon and blessed me with peacock features.
After this, they offered to perform a pooja that would attract more customers to the salon." She refused the godmen initially, but they convinced her that her business will prosper if the pooja was performed.
Priya finally agreed. The three visited her home and began chanting a mantra and asked Priya and her friend Mangesh to hand over their gold chains and bracelets for the pooja.
The trio lit some incense. Soon, the smoke filled the house.
Priya and her friend fell unconscious and after 30 minutes they regained consciousness to find that the three godmen were missing with valuables worth Rs 30,000.
Priya raised an alarm and alerted the neighbours, who looked out in the neighbourhood for the men, but in vain.
She later filed a complaint with the Ulsoor Gate police.
"We have alerted businessmen and residents in the neighbourhood where the theft occurred. One has to be careful while entertaining such people," said a police officer investigating the case.
