Cab driver and his accomplice took the victim to an isolated place in Vasant Kunj
AN 18-year-old girl who had gone to see off her relative at the Palam airport was fortunate to escape a rape attempt on Sunday. The victim lives with her family in Gurgaon and works with a private firm. She had come to the Capital along with her relative who had to board a domestic flight.
According to the police, the victim was about to hire a cab to return home when the accused came riding an Innova car. He told the girl that he was also going to Gurgaon and would drop her in return for some money.
The driver, Chetan Sharma, took the girl on a drive on the highway and tried to develop intimacy during the ride. When the cab reached Sikandarpur in Gurgaon, the victim asked him to stop the cab, but he slapped her and accelerated the vehicle.
The girl said she tried to jump off from the moving cab but failed as Chetan had locked the door. He then called his associate Pawan to meet him near Vasant Kunj. Police said Chetan stopped the car near a temple in Vasant Kunju00a0 where Pawan was already present.
Chetan dragged the victim out of the car. But she ran away and approached the police. The cops went to visit the spot. "Both the accused were present there. We arrested theu00a0u00a0 two and seized their INNOVA car after the victim identified them," said a police officer.
