Nashik: Maharashtra Water Resources minister Girish Mahajan on Thursday offered prayers at a temple in Trimbakeshwar on the occasion of Sant Nivruttinath fair, which is held during the Marathi month of Pousha.


Mahajan alongwith his wife performed 'mahapooja' and 'abhisheka' at the Sant Nivruttinath Maharaj Samadhi temple at 5 am.



BJP MLA from Nashik, Balasaheb Sanap, Trimbak Municipal Council President and Vice-President--Vijaya Lodha and Santosh Kadam Dadasaheb Gaikwad, Chairperson of Sant Nivruttinath temple trust, vice-president of state unit Warkari Mahamandal-Rameshwar Shastri, District Superintendent of Police, Sanjay Mohite, Sub-divisional-officer, Balasaheb Wakchoure were present on the occasion.


Mahajan, who is also Guardian Minister of Nashik, dedicated a silver-chariot to the temple trust today.

Lakhs of warkaris from different parts of the state have poured in the holy town to witness the famous fair.

Rural Police have made elaborate security arrangements by deploying extra police force while Nashik unit of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation has made arrangement of 300 extra buses to Trimbakeshwar from various destinations to tackle the rush of piligirms.
