Gas cylinder explosion injures 200

Around 200 employees of a garment factory have been admitted to hospital after they complained of respiratory problem due to explosion of a cylinder on Monday morning.

The majority of the victims are women, who have been admitted to St John's hospital. Thirty among the admitted are said to be in critical condition. They are working in Excel garments situated in Madiwala police station limits.

The name of the chemical which leaked the gas causing the mishap is yet to be identified. According to the police, the cylinder was kept in a shed adjacent to the garment factory, which was used for washing garments. The fire tenders and police who rushed to the spot are investigating to ascertain the cause of the explosion.
