A middle-aged man was today trampled to death by a wild elephant at Shakradih village in Saraikela-Kharswan district of Jharkhand

Forest department officials said Amin Mahto (50) had gone to field to relieve himself when he was fatally attacked by the jumbo. The body parts have been recovered and forest officials later handed over cash to the bereaved family.u00a0

Meanwhile the forest department stepped up night patrolling in the area bordering Tamar in Khunti district in view of marauding pachyderms straying into the area.u00a0
