What could be better news during the recession? Your dream job is just a phone call away.
Dial-a-job, a phone-based job search agency, offers to provide employment options without logging on to any Internet website. Instead of running an online portal like other leading job search sites, this company is cashing in on the booming telecom sector.u00a0 It plans to simplify the employment process by eliminating advertisements on the employer's part and saving time for the job-hunter.
It is successfully operating in Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune and will soon open its branches in the Capital.
Ring in a job
To register with this phone-job-search, you need to call its employment hotline number. A few details like qualifications and experience have to be specified. These are then entered into the agency's database. And then starts the search for potential employers. The caller is informed of the opportunity through phone, SMS and email.
"The service is targeted at job-hunters who do not have access to Internet or enough time to surf the Net. We want to tap a wide gamut of potential employers both small and medium sized, NGOs and the rural and agricultural sectors, besides IT and BPO segments," said Mahesh Sheka, managing director of the firm.
To make your search simpler, the company also plans to introduce a new service called one-minute voice resume. Under this, the company executives will help you format a resume even as your speak.
Job-seekers like it
Job-hunters have welcomed the idea. Aditya Kothari, a hotelier from Pune, said: "I hardly get time to surf jobs on Internet.u00a0 But when one of my friends told me about the dial-a-job service, I promptly registered with them. Within 15 days I got three job offers through SMSes."
Other job portals, however, are not so convinced. "At present we only provide SMS services and WAP on the mobile phone. Phone-based search is a new concept in India which will see many players in the future but only after the recession is over," said a senior official from naukri.com, requesting anonymity.
