Eight-year-old Kenda was a street dog before Narayan adopted it a few years ago.
Last month, the dog hurt it's leg, and Narayan took it to a veterinary hospital near Kengery, but it didn't heal. On a friend's advice, he called CUPA, and they promptly sent a vehicle for Kenda.
Narayan alleged that the CUPA staff was so rough while picking Kenda that the wounded leg was fractured. Later, the wound developed gangrene.
"I visited Kenda on August 2, and he was recuperating," he added. "The next day I received a call from the hospital saying that he was dead.
When I enquired, a staff member said the doctors has mistaken him for a stray and had administered a lethal injection. However, they refuse to accept it officially."
Muniraju T, an advocate, has come forward to fight for him. "We will file a private complaint in the court and seek action for the criminal negligence and killing the pet animal."
A cop in the Sanjayanagar police station said, "Since this case is the first of its kind, we don't know how to proceed.

Keeping CUPA's good reputation in mind, we have tried to convince Narayan to drop the case, but he is unrelenting." He added that Narayan had vital evidence to prove that the doctors had killed the dog.
Anjani Kumar, the doctor who treated Kenda at the hospital, declined to comment even after repeated attempts.
