Get your hands on healthy cookies full of spicy goodness
If the sugar binge during the festive season has left you craving for something spicy, it's time you tried cookies made with Indian spices for starters. Ba Cookies, a cookie-making venture by businessman Bhuvan Thaker promises to add desi flavour to normal sweet treats.
Thaker started this venture in association with a baker at the Hare Krishna ISCKON temple, where the cookies are manufactured. Ba cookies are free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives and contain healthy ingredients like ragi, whole wheat, ghee, Belgian chocolate, and cardamom from India's spice capital, Idukki in Kerala.
Bhuvan says, "Many people make cookies using margarine because it's cost effective. We use ghee. This means the cookies are not sticky and crunchier."u00a0 All the cookies are rich in fibre, protein, calcium and iron and contain a good balance of saturated and unsaturated fats (no hydrogenated or trans fats allowed). The cookies are available in four flavours -- butter, chocolate, mixed nut and the delectable mixed spice. You can order online too.
