Did BJP leader's nephew harass family?

When a family from R T Nagar headed out to M G Road last night to enjoy a quiet family dinner, they did not anticipate the trouble they would get into.

Poornima Naik (30), a human resource officer, was driving towards MG Road with her husband and two brothers when the men managed to get Naik to pull over close to the Empire hotel in Shivaji Nagar.

"I wasn't wearing the seat belt and the door wasn't locked, so they pulled me out of the car. The driver of the car tried to strangle me while another guy twisted my hands," said Naik. "One of them started abusing. He said he would put me in jail because he was Katta Subramanya Naidu's nephew. Luckily, the people on the street noticed and stopped them from causing us any more harm."

The man, who was claiming to be Naidu's nephew, was identified as Vishal. "I have no intention of hurting her. I have not even laid a finger on her. She's lying about everything," he said.

"There were only two of us in my car. Her brothers hit me and someone snatched my gold chain as well."
ASI Muniraj of Cubbon Park police station said, "The case will have to be transferred to the Commercial Street police station because it falls under its jurisdiction. We know the name of the driver is Sunil."

Naik said, "The cops aren't helping us either. They are taking the thugs' side in this. The policemen have been bribed by my attackers."
