New Delhi: The Delhi government on Saturday said that it will not register any new diesel vehicle till January 6 following a National Green Tribunal (NGT) order.

"As per the direction of the NGT, diesel car registration has been closed till January 6, 2016," Delhi Home Minister Satyendra Jain said.

On Friday, the NGT said that no new diesel cars will be registered in the national capital till January 6.

The order came in the wake of rising pollution in Delhi.

A diesel engine causes more pollution than a petrol-run engine.
