Delhi metro rail: DLF lays the track for first private metro link

For better connectivity in Gurgaon, real estate giant DLF Ltd is planning to run its own metro rail in the millenium city covering about four km at an estimated investment of up to Rs 375 crore.

For better connectivity in Gurgaon, real estate giant DLF Ltd is planning to run its own Delhi metro rail in the millenium city covering about four km at an estimated investment of up to Rs 375 crore.u00a0The nation's first private metro project is waiting for the green signal from Haryana government.

The road and the land are owned by Haryana government, thus officials are waiting for their approval to start work. While the government is tight-lipped over the issue, the company officials are sure that the state government will soon act to their request.

"The planning part is over and we are ready to start the project from our side. We are hopeful it will getu00a0 government nod soon," a DLF official said.

"The construction will startu00a0 once we get approval from the state government. It is expected to complete by April 2010," he said.

DLF, the country's most valued real estate developer has sought permission from Haryana government for use of road and also to cut trees wherever required.

Besides, it has also written for tax concession for its metro project and providing electricity at no profit-no loss basis.

u00a0The PRO, Haryana government refused to comment. "I am not aware of any development. Thus, can not say anything."
